Principal Associate Directorate Communications Director

Thomas Lynch is the communications director for the NIF & Photon Science Directorate at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. In this capacity, he serves as a communications subject matter expert for NIF&PS and advises the NIF&PS Principal Associate Director and senior management team on internal and external strategic messaging. He oversees NIF&PS News and collaborates with LLNL’s Office of Strategic Communications on external initiatives.

He was previously head of communications at TB Alliance, an international non-profit dedicated to developing new cures for tuberculosis (TB). Thomas previously worked in the communications department at the World Bank’s Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery, which helps countries prepare for and respond to natural disasters. He also held communications positions at the New York City Council and the EastWest Institute, an NGO focused on facilitating track 2 diplomacy. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where he worked in student governance and was graphics editor at U.Va's daily newspaper.
