NIF Tour

Non-US Citizen Deadline: July 11, 2012
US Citizen Deadline: August 10, 2012

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is home to the National Ignition Facility (NIF). NIF is a national resource — a unique experimental facility addressing compelling national security, energy, and science missions.

NIF's 192 powerful laser beams, housed in a 10-story building the size of three football fields, can deliver nearly 2 million joules of ultraviolet laser energy in billionth-of-a-second pulses to the target chamber center.

NIF was featured in a BBC broadcast on fusion. Check out other videos on NIF.

Don't miss this highlight tour of the National Ignition Facility. You will have the option of signing up for the NIF Tour during your online workshop registration process. The tour will be held on Tuesday September 11, 2012, the day before the workshop.

The NIF tour is limited to conference attendees (U.S. citizens and non-citizens) and their guests (companions and spouses). At this time, attendees under the age of 18 are not permitted.

Directions to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the National Ignition Facility can be found on the LLNL website.
