About the NIF and Jupiter Laser Facility User Group Meeting

The National Ignition Facility (NIF) and Jupiter Laser Facility (JLF) User Groups will host a joint meeting Monday, February 3, 2020 through Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at the Bella Rosa Event Center in Livermore, CA. The meeting will describe NIF’s and JLF’s capabilities to current and potential users and will include presentations about capabilities and highlights from recent experiments.

The 192-beam NIF is the world’s most energetic inertial confinement fusion (ICF) facility. The NIF lasers’ unprecedented power, precision, and reproducibility, coupled with an ever-expanding suite of diagnostics and sophisticated target fabrication capability, enable a wide range of leading-edge scientific experiments. Groundbreaking experiments in areas such as materials science, nucleosynthesis, and astrophysical shocks have been conducted. Visit the Lasers Home Page.

The Jupiter Laser Facility at LLNL consists of several laser systems with diverse capabilities. Laser time at Jupiter is provided through an open, competitive peer-review process. Users come from more than 90 institutions worldwide and more than 140 of Jupiter’s 500 users are students. Visit the Jupiter Laser Facility.
